- All prisoners arrested on suspicion of freeing 5,000 mink from a farm in Barchem (West-Holland) are now freed on bail pending a court case in late 2011. More information can be found here.
- Vegan prisoner Renata Zelazna was released from remand in late 2010 and thanks everyone for the support she received.
- There are currently no vegan prisoners in the Netherlands, so please consider writing to ones in other countries.

Introduction to SVAT
SVAT is a non-profit group dedicated to supporting vegans that have been imprisoned in the Netherlands. The group was set up in 2010 as a response to the imprisonment of several vegans. SVAT was also formed as a support-network for vegan prisoners.
SVAT aims to provide support for vegan prisoners through the following:
Negotiating with prisons to ensure they provide a vegan diet to prisoners
Informing relevant prisons with information regarding vegan nutrition, recipes, supplements etc.
Providing support to vegan prisoners through letter-writing, fundraising and awareness.
